Rebecca Matter receives advising excellence award Chris Lind to retire; interim position announced In the meantime, Interim Provost and Vice Chancellor Steven Tallant will appoint an interim assistant vice chancellor. As a result, the Office of Academic Affairs requests letters of application from faculty and academic staff interested in serving as interim assistant vice chancellor and director of the Center of Excellence for Faculty/Student Research Collaboration. The interim position will begin on a part-time basis Nov. 1, 2005. Effective Jan. 1, 2006, the position will be full time until a permanent assistant vice chancellor is hired. The interim assistant vice chancellor will be eligible to apply for the permanent position. See position responsibilities and application information. The determined spirit of a successful teacher and businesswoman who graduated from UW-Eau Claire in 1969 is being memorialized by her husband through the creation of a scholarship in her name. Patricia Arts Rinaldi, who began her UW-Eau Claire college career at age 37 and earned a bachelor's degree in business education, died of cancer in 1999. Her husband, Emil Rinaldi, has endowed a fund through the UW-Eau Claire Foundation to create the annual Patricia Arts Rinaldi Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship will be awarded to an outstanding education major who graduated from a Wisconsin high school and demonstrates a passion for setting goals and persisting, sometimes through obstacles, on the path toward reaching a dream. A growing number of UW-Eau Claire departments and units are updating their Web sites using the new campus Web site design templates, creating a look for their sites that is consistent with the design of the university's top-level Web pages. Campus hosts successful Day of Caring
UW-Eau Claire's United Way "Day of Caring" activities brought in $761 (to date) as well as a barrel full of school supplies for area students. The Sept. 16 event to benefit United Way of Greater Eau Claire included a dunk tank, marshmallow golf, ice cream cones and a theme basket raffle. It's not too late to get your name in to win one of the following baskets:
