President E-Mail - October 24, 2007

A couple NBA-related news bits to send your way...please read this e-mail thoroughly!!

This week's meeting has been cancelled due to the WMEA conference, and other conflicts. It will be moved to next Thursday.

We will be having a potluck dinner and movie night at one of two locations (yet to be confirmed). Try to think of anything you'd like to bring, and let me know so that I can plan a "menu" and make sure that we've got all the bases covered. Early next week, I'll let you know what we still need. If you have absolutely no idea what you want to bring, wait until I send out that list...I'll provide several ideas. If you've got some movies you'd like to watch as a group, feel free to bring those!

And now a little about the Indianhead Honor Band...Put Saturday, November 3rd on your calendars!!

The Indianhead Honor Band is the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's honor band for talented high school band musicians in the northwestern region of Wisconsin. Along with providing refreshments for the band directors, we provide snacks in the afternoon for the students, along with our snack booth in the morning (where we actually will be selling items). On top of this, the Wind and Percussion division pays the National Band Association for its services throughout the day. The NBA Collegiate Chapter has been an integral component to the smooth operation of this event, and thus, it is also our biggest fundraising and outreach opportunity.

That said, we'll need a plethora of volunteers. It's easy work, and it's a lot of fun! The volunteer duties range from setting up rehearsal spaces on Friday afternoon for Saturday morning, to running the registration table in the morning on Saturday, to ushering at the evening concert. One of the most important duties, however, is being a sectional "note-taker." These individuals are incredibly important--they sit in on rehearsals throughout the day, with parts in hand, and provide the professors of each instrument with essential information regarding the music, and areas that need the most work.

Early next week, I'll put up a sign-up list for volunteers. Next to that list, you'll find a description of the duties of those positions. It is absolutely critical that we fill these spots! I'll bring that sign-up sheet to the Potluck next Thursday, so we can fill any spots that are still empty.

And next Thursday at the potluck, after everyone's settled their stomachs, we'll go through the entire Indianhead agenda and cover all the bases.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please lfeel free to bring them forward! You can contact me directly in person, by e-mail, or by phone at 612-554-6157.

Thanks everyone! I'm looking forward to this Potluck--it'll be a very tasty experience, for sure!!
