Percussion

Incoming Freshmen:

1.   Scales     

      a)   All major scales and arpeggios required on the xylophone or marimba.

2.   One prepared solo (memorization optional)--concert snare drum (NOT marching/rudimental), keyboard/mallet percussion, timpani, or multiple percussion.  A drumset solo may be used as well, but ONLY IN ADDITION TO another solo on one of the instruments listed previously. Entrance auditions on percussion should be equal to the performance proficiency required for Class A solos on the Wisconsin School Music Association's State Contest list.  See suggested repertoire below.

3.   Sight-reading required in all areas of percussion performance.

4.   Students are required to bring CONCERT size snare drum sticks, one pair medium hard rubber mallets, and one pair timpani sticks.  (Xylophone, marimba, timpani, tambourines, triangles, and cymbals will be furnished at the audition site.)

Transfer Students:
