The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire offers a variety of bands designed to meet the artistic and educational needs of UW-Eau Claire students. Students from all academic disciplines are invited to participate in the band program as ensembles are open to all interested and qualified UW-Eau Claire students.
Wind Symphony

The Wind Symphony is dedicated to the performance of the finest traditional and contemporary wind band literature. This ensemble, which is open to university students by audition, provides members the opportunity to broaden performance and teaching skills by experiencing exemplary literature at the highest level. The Wind Symphony performs at least two concerts each semester and participates on an annual concert tour. The ensemble rehearses Monday through Friday from 2:00-2:50 p.m. in the Haas Fine Arts Center.
The Wind Symphony has recently performed at the Wisconsin State Music Conference (2003, 2001), Illinois Music Educators Association All-State Convention (2004), and the National Band Association - Wisconsin Chapter State Convention (2002). The Wind Symphony also frequently records for music publishers including Daehn Publicatins and JPM Music.

The Symphony Band, an ensemble comprised of music majors and talented non-music majors, is committed to the study and performance of the finest standard and contemporary works for band. The band maintains an active schedule and enjoys a reputation as a group committed to only the highest musical standards. The Symphony Band is open to all university students, however membership is determined by audition. The Symphony Band presents four concerts a year and participates on a concert tour each spring. The band rehearses Monday through Thursday from 3:00-3:50 p.m. in the Haas Fine Arts Center.

University Band

The University Band is open to all UW-Eau Claire students regardless of major. It offers students an opportunity to play quality repertoire at a high level of performance. The band is comprised of talented musicians from many academic disciplines as well as music majors, some of whom choose to perform on a secondary instrument. No auditions are required for membership in the University Band. The band rehearses on Mondays in the fall from 4:00-5:50 p.m. and on Tuesdays in the spring from 4:00-5:50 p.m. in the Haas Fine Arts Center.

The Blugold Marching Band is one of the most active marching bands in the upper Midwest. It performs each season at UWEC home football games, 3 contest exhibitions, a stage show in Zorn Arena, and other selected events. Recent performances have included two NFL games, a weekend trip to Chicago, and a performance tour of Italy and Greece.
Membership is open to qualified students of any major. BMB applications should be submitted online between February 15 and July 1. Early application is recommended as the band is limited to 230 members and many sections are filled by mid spring. The marching band practices Tuesday-Friday from 4:15-5:30 p.m. on the practice field located outside of the Haas Fine Arts Center.
