Valerie Errante serves as Professor of Voice at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. Dr. Errante holds a D.M.A. from The Eastman School of Music and served as Associate in Voice in the Community Education Division of that school. She has also taught at the University of Iowa, the Folkwang Hochschule für Musik in Essen, Germany, and at Northern Michigan University. She has extensive performance experience including several seasons as leading Coloratura soprano at the opera house in the city of Kiel, where she has sung over 30 operatic roles. She has been a guest in opera and concert works throughout Germany, in Italy, Israel, and Estonia, as well as her home town of Rochester, New York, in Detroit, Dayton, Iowa City, and Washington, DC. She has sung with the Rochester Oratorio Society, the Bel Canto Chorus of Milwaukee, the Cedar Rapids Symphony and the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. She has recorded under the direction of Giuseppe Patané on Ariola/Eurodisc. Together with Robert Wason, she has performed Lieder aus der Münchener Schule in concerts throughout the United States and Germany, including performances at the national conventions of the College Music Society, the American Musicological Society, and the National Association of Teachers of Singing. A volume of this Lieder will soon be published by A-R Editions, Inc. In a further collaboration, the two artists have recordeda CD of both the Art Songs and the popular songs of fellow Rochesterian, the late Alec Wilder, which was issued in October 2000 to spendid reviews.
Best known for his work in the field of vocal accompaniment, Jeffry Peterson has performed throughout the United States and Europe with such celebrated singers as Yolanda Marculescu, Evelyn Lear, Eric Mills, Valerie Errante, Kurt Ollmann, and Jaroslav Horacek. Recording credits include two collaborations with Yolanda Marculescu and the three CD “Something to Sing About,” a choral anthology for G. Schirmer. His recent CD with the renowned soprano Erie Mills, “Always It’s Spring” has met with great critical acclaim. He founded the UWM Vocal Arts Series and chairs the program in collaborative piano. He has participated in the International Art Song Festival at UWM since its inception in 1981. He earned degrees from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and the University of Illinois. He received a Fulbright - Hays grant to study Vocal Accompanying at the Hochschule fuer Musik in Vienna, Austria. His principal teachers have included Jack Radunsky, Kenneth Drake, John Wustman, and Gwendolyn Kodolfsky. While serving in the US Peace Corps, he taught at the “Escuela Nacional de Musica” in San Salvador, El Salvador. Since returning from Austria, he has served on the faculty of the State University of New York – Fredonia, and is currently Associate Professor at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee.
