Theatre for Young Audiences

Our mission is to provide quality theatrical experiences that inspire, enrich, entertain and educate young people and families in the Chippewa Valley.

Children's Theatre

"Theatre has seemingly been dismissed as irrelevant to the upbringing of our bright, young twenty-first-century high-tech children. I believe, on the contrary, that the reverse is true. Live theatre is more, much, much more important than it has ever been." --Alan Ayckbourn, British Playwright

Educators, Parents and Friends

It's time to mark your calendars for our 2007-2008 season of quality theatre for young audiences and families. This season we are serving all age groups with our selection of plays.

Theatre for Young Audiences Touring Theatre
Directed by Cheryl Starr

(Shows are available to visit your school or group mid-October to mid-December. Email Cheryl Starr at starrcl@uwec.edu for prices and booking.)

Our fall tour is a retelling of the classic Sleeping Beauty (for all ages). However, this is not your typical Sleeping Beauty! Woven throughout the familiar story are fairy folk, a half-dragon, a spider king and a more contemporary princess. We are able to bring this show to your school, complete with costumes, scenery, lights and special effects at a very affordable price. The fall tour always fills up, so you are encouraged to book as soon as possible.

Mainstage Production

Our spring mainstage production (in Kjer Theatre) is the classic story of The Boxcar Children (for ages 6 and up). This is a play that is sure to delight young people who have discovered the Boxcar series of books so popular right now, as well as those adults who fondly remember the story from their own youth. This new script is a faithful retelling of the original story. Contact the University Service Center (836-3727) for ticket information.

As always, we are proud to present high quality productions at a very low ticket price. Here is what we can offer you:

  • The lowest ticket price in town
  • Free tickets to teachers for our school matinees
  • Free educational study materials for both productions
  • Free post-play discussions, backstage tours and workshops

We hope you will join our family of supporters and share these wonderful stories with us.
