Where to Get Help

There are several sources of help for you as you increase your technological literacy skills.  The following links provide documents or tutuorials that may be of benefit.

UWEC On-Line Resources - this link takes you to the UWEC collection of handouts that provide step-by-step instructions for completing basic skills operations. For example, in the email section, you will find the process for creating a distribution list so you can send the same email message to a group of people.

Computer-Based Training Modules - although these modules are restricted to use on the UWEC or Marshfield campuses, they provide an easy to navigate, easy to learn method of increasing your technological literacy skills. Each module is an on-line tutorial on basic computer or specific application skills.  There are modules for basic Macintosh and Windows use, Netscape and Microsoft Office 97.

BITS - The BITS (Bringing Instructional Technology to Students) Program offers free workshops for students. The current schedule is at the BITS Web site.

CNS Help Desk - the consultants at the CNS Help Desk are trained to help you with your questions.

Other Tips and Tricks

Patience - it helps a lot to realize that all problems can't be solved at once. Your patience is appreciated.

Reporting Problems - When reporting problems to Dr. Mirr, Ms. FinderMs. Raleigh or the CNS Helpdesk, please provide as much information as you can.  Helpful information includes what type of machine you have, how you connect, what you are trying to do, error messages that you received, etc. All of this information helps to resolve the problem quickly.

Sense of humor - Besides patience, laugh a bit.  Technology, the new time saver, sometimes isn't. :-)
