The purpose of a take-home exam is to demonstrate that you have done the assigned reading, that you have listened to class lectures and discussions, and that you have thought about the ideas.
ANSWER THE QUESTION ASKED. Think about the question and draw upon readings, class material and your own thoughts to answer it. Do not just summarize the relevant readings.

Plan your essay before you begin to write it. Support your points, show you understand what you are arguing, but don’t pile on details for their own sake. Consider the implications of the question and answer it broadly, trace the interrelations among the factors you discuss. Answer the question completely.
Reread and proofread your essay. Correct typographical and grammatical errors. Type if at all possible or else write legibly.
