The UWEC men's volleyball team will be holding a tournament in the McPhee building on Saturday, October 14th. The following teams will be present: UWEC A, UWEC B, UWEC alumni, Stevens Point, Whitewater, Michigan Tech, U.Minnesota A, U.Minnesota B.

The UWEC men's volleyball team won the Carleton Tournament this past weekend. Taking second in their pool after a loss to North Dakota State's A team, UWEC easily walked through the bracket with wins over St.Cloud and Winona.

UWEC had a tough first match of the day against Club Wausua, dropping the first game and coming back to win the next 2 games, both close margins. UWEC then beat University of Chicago(#18 DII) quite easily. Then came the most exciting match of the day. UWEC(#4 DII) vs UW-Madison(#11 DI). UW-Madison won the first game by a score of 27-26, because the games were capped at 26. UW- Madison also won the second game by a close margin 25-22. In the first round of gold bracket play, UWEC ran into Division 1 powerhouse Lakeland, the first game was very close and competitive, however the second game Lakeland pulled away and dominated the match.

Alumni weekend was very sucessful. With about 16 Alumni coming back, we were able to split into two alumni teams......Old Guys and Really Old Guys. Thank you to all the Alumni that came.

UWEC A team went undeafted this weekend, giving up 20 or more points only 3 times in 10 games. We were scheduled to play in the championship game against St.John's but ran out of time. UWEC B team played well for most of the day, giving Michigan Tech(who reached the Gold Bracket at NIRSA Nationals last year) a run in three games, losing both games going to extra points.
