Welcome!
Greetings! For those of you joining us this year, welcome and congratulations on being invited to attend the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire! And to those returning, welcome back. One of the best things you can do as a college student is to get involved in organizations on campus. Whether or not you are a music education major, we encourage you to come and check out our first meeting!  This organization is a great way to meet people, become involved in the community and to share your love of music with your colleagues and young people. We cannot wait to meet you! See you at our first meeting!

What is CMENC?
CMENC stands for Collegiate Music Educators National Conference, but we’re also known as The National Association for Music Education – Collegiate Chapter. We are a University-recognized student organization devoted to the professional development of students who are pursuing music degrees. We are affiliated with the national organization of MENC, which is the most renowned organization of music educators across the nation!

What do we do?

• Hold bi-monthly meetings, featuring speakers from around the state
• Visit local schools to share music and teach
• Hold fun fundraisers, like food booths for music events
• Host organization social events
• Sponsor a “Shadow Day” for high school students
• Attend State Convention in Madison and mini-conference in Stevens Point
• Sponsor a scholarship for a hard-working member
• Hunt for the holiday tree for the Haas Fine Arts lobby
• Participate in Music in Our Schools Month

Why should you join?

• Find out if Music Education is for you! It's better for you to join now, rather than wishing in the future that you had joined earlier!
• Our chapter has been recognized throughout the state as being a strong and active chapter throughout its history!
• By joining MENC, you also have an immediate membership to WMEA (Wisconsin Music Educators Association)
• With your membership, the October WMEA Convention in Madison is only $25! This conference is a great opportunity to visit your friends in Madison, get free stuff, and hear music groups and speakers from around the state, including groups from Eau Claire!
• You will receive a monthly subscription to “Music Educators Journal,” which contains great resources you will want for your career development and portfolio!
• Earn points through active membership to get free admission to the WMEA convention!

Now What?

• Watch for flyers, signs, and other information about the first CMENC general meeting!
• Come to the Fine Arts Organizations’ Pizza and Info. Party at Haas Fine Arts on Thursday, September 4th at 5:00 PM in the Haas Lobby.
