Childhood dream becomes future plan
UW-Eau Claire Advanced Reporting Student Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2001 Sabrina Adkins-Schuck has been thinking about going to a law school, even though she doesn't remember how and when first thinking about it, she said. That was her dream when she was a child and that is now her future plan after graduating from this university. Family background could also be influenced because Adkins-Schuck shares views with her family members and yet she can discuss her own views with them as well, she said. Despite of the fact that there isn't graduate level of law courses at the University of Wisconsin -Eau Claire, she chose this university because she obtained the Academic Excellence Scholarship, which pays full tuition for her as long as she goes to a university in Wisconsin. Adkins-Schuck, a senior student whose major was print journalism, recently changed from political science as a minor to that as a second major, she said. UW-Eau Claire is a good place for her because of the people and atmosphere and because it is far enough away from home and yet she can go back home when needed, Adkins-Schuck said. Although Adkins-Schuck hasn't decided which law school she is going to, her decision of going to law school is fixed, she said. Adkins-Schuck’s purpose of taking this class, CJ427, is to help her learn from her fellow classmates and become a better reporter and writer. Her writing experience related to this course is writing for newspaper and yearbook at high school and writing a couple articles for the Spectator in the university. Her favorite experience in an academic field is that having Gerald Conner and Steven Majstorovic as professors because they made learning so much fun, Adkins-Schuck said. She hopes that UW-Eau Claire hires more professors like them. Adkins-Schuck, 22, has two older sisters, a younger stepsister, an older stepsister, a younger stepbrother, and two older stepbrothers. She also has a nephew and four nieces. She was born in Park Falls, which is a countryside, and had a good childhood. All kinds of things were interesting to her then such as playing with friends, writing, swimming, and so forth. The most memorable experience she enjoyed was summers with her grandparents. Family is one of the most important things in her life as well as friends and God. Her career will come next. Last spring break Adkins-Schuck and her friends traveled to San Antonio, Texas. She had a lot of fun sightseeing and walking around the town, she said. She and her friends even crossed over into Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, where Laredo, Texas shares the border. |
