JoAnne Evans has lived in Eau Claire for 22 years, and has always been very active in her community. This year she is running for her second period in the Board of Education in Eau Claire.

"I’m interested in another term on the Board of Education to continue the work I have started the past three years", Evans said. Evans first was elected on the Board in 1998 and is the treasurer on the current Board of Education.

Evans' list of community work is long and she believes in giving back to the community. The mother of three children is strongly interested in the development and improvement of the schools in the Eau Claire Area. "A high quality of educations is of great importance for me as well as a high technological standard. Therefore, it is necessary to equip the school with modern computers, to give students the chance to learn for their future", Evans said. "Learning how to deal with computers is so essentially important that we also installed computers in our elementary schools". Evans continued.

Because the Eau Claire School District is looking at serious budget shortfalls, Evans' priority will be to ensure, that no cuts are going to be made to student programs.

Evans' priority lies in finding a satisfying agreement between dealing with a low budget and still providing a high standard of education. " Our education program is definitely going to be compromised under this system," Evans said.  Under this amount of shortcuts Evans sees huge problem to continue the high quality of education.

Even though JoAnne Evans, who lives on 625 Shoreline in Eau Claire, is a registered nurse from the Michigan Tech University, she is a stay at home mother and enjoys her work for the community. “I believe my leadership will be an asset to the district and my priority will always be the students,” Evans added.
