Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program
Summer 2008 Research Institute

Thank you for assisting the McNair Program's documentation requirements.  Completing this form together at a regularly scheduled meeting during the week has proven the most efficient approach for previous mentors and scholars.  At the end of the summer McNair staff will create from the six Weekly Progress Reports a matrix reflecting the summer's experience.  Each mentor and scholar will receive a draft copy of the matrix to edit/verify its accuracy.  Following the return of draft matrices McNair staff will incorporate any changes, then issue and distribute a final version to mentors and scholars.

Weekly Progress Report

Kindly complete the Weekly Progress Report below.  Typically the McNair Scholar enters the information on the forms, though in some instance(s) a Mentor may prefer to oversee their submission.  (A paper version of the Weekly Progress Report is also available from the McNair Office.)

Scholar's Research Goals for this Week (what five major goals he or she had hoped to accomplish by the week's end):

Method(s) Scholars Used to Explore/Achieve Goals: (for some these methods might remain the same throughout the six weeks; for others continual refinement of method, or a progression of techniques, will be typical)

Information Realized from Research: (could be adjustments to techniques, reshaping of inquiries, breakthroughs, new insights, hunches, etc.)

What of this week's research proved satisfying? (For example, new leads to sources,  equipment functioning properly, supplies arriving, teamwork in the lab, weather cooperating, etc.)

What of this week's research proved frustrating?

Other Comments:
