Awarded in the Fall with funds available in the Spring.
Open to students who attended high school the previous spring, who are enrolled in college for the first time, and who are enrolled full time at UW-Eau Claire. Students who have graduated from high school must be in the top 15% of their graduating high school class. Students must have an ACT composite score of at least 28 and a math component score of at least 30. Students must have declared a mathematics major or minor. (Previous Al Rolland scholars are ineligible.)
The Awards Committee will contact Registration Services and obtain a list of all eligible students. The Awards Committee will contact all eligible students requesting that they apply for the scholarship. To apply, a student must submit a resume along with an application letter indicating any specific mathematical activities and accomplishments in mathematics.
The letter of application and resume should be submitted to the Mathematics Department Office (HHH 508) within 10 days after being notified of eligibility status by the Awards Committee.

The scholarship recipient will receive notification by letter, with a copy of the award letter to the Financial Aids and Foundations Offices at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. In addition, the recipient will be recognized at the Spring Honors Banquet at UW-Eau Claire. At the beginning of the Spring Semester the amount of the award will be applied to University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire tuition. (Alternatives are available for students who receive full tuition scholarships at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.)
