To find journal articles on your BCOM topic:

  • Core & More -- look under MIS, Computer Science or Education to find appropriate journal article databases in which to search.

  • Additional databases that may be useful:
LexisNexis Academic: Contains the full text of the Chronicle of Higher Education and university news wires.
(NOTE: Paper and microfilm copies of the Chronicle of Higher Education can be found on the library's 2nd floor!)
    To use:
    1. Click Guided News Search tab
    2. From the Select a News Category menu, choose University News
    3. From the Select a News Source menu, choose either the Chronicle or University Wire.
    4. Notice that the default date range to be searched is just the previous 6 months. You may choose to extend this.
  • Academic Search Elite: Contains articles from a broad range of disciplines

Databases don't always provide the entire journal article online. Sometimes they only provide a citation (i.e. title, author, name of journal, date, page, etc.). To find out if the library subscribes to a journal you need, check the Periodicals List.                                            Help for using the Periodicals List

To find books on your BCOM topic, try searching  the Voyager Online Catalog by subject headings. The following subject headings may be useful:

  • Education, Higher--Effect of technological innovations on.

  • Internet (Computer network) in education

  • Telecommunication in higher education

  • Educational technology

  • Education, Higher -- Computer network resources

  • Computer-assisted instruction

In the subject areas above, you may retrieve results that are located in "netLibrary." These are electronic books. After setting up a free account, you can browse them (for 15 minutes) or "check them out" (for 24 hours at a time).
