I. President's report: Tony Cuvo reported that all went well during his term and the conference was running smoothly, thanks in part to the efforts of Mark Dixon and Eric Jacobs, who were assigned to serve as program chairs.
II. Treasurer's report: Larry Alferink distributed a detailed financial report, which indicated that the organization's assets (as of Oct. 1, 2002) were $1, 365.08. The income from the 2001 conference was $1,430.00.
III. President-elect's report: Wayne Fuqua stated that the 2003 convention will be held in Milwaukee, WI, most likely during the month of October. Discussion of which neighborhoods/hotels in Milwaukee followed. More details can be expected over the course of the next year.
IV. Operations Coordinator's report: Ruth Anne established a database for members, handled conference registration, and submitted reports to ABA.
V. Paper Competition Chair's report: Doug Woods noted that there were two entries in this year's competition. Both papers were reviewed by an expert in experimental analysis of behavior and an expert in applied behavior analysis. Daniel Fienup of Southern Illinois University was selected as the winner.
VI. Poster Chair report: Kevin Klatt shared some concerns about poster submissions and the rules related to submission. The suggestion was made that at future conferences posters depicting programs should be kept outside of the general poster session.
VII. Website: Tom Critchfield will continue to maintain the website.
VIII. Student Director: It was decided that a student, nominated and selected by fellow students, will serve on the Board of Directors for a one year term.
IX. Elections: Elizabeth Nolty (SIU) was elected as the student representative on the Board of Directors (term ends 2004); Jim Carr was elected to the position of Board of Directors (term ends 2006); and Larry Alferink was elected to the position of President-elect (2003), and President (2004). Larry Alferink will continue to serve as Treasurer this next year.
X. New Business: The possibility of holding
pre-conference workshops was raised. This will not be pursued
at this time as workshops are generally more practitioner-oriented.
The possibility of donating a portion of income to international
organizations was raised, and it was decided that the organization
should establish a more solid cash reserve first. Several individuals
were in favor of allowing conference attendees to make a donation
along with their registration.
