CommonSpot is the Web content management system (Web CMS) being used to transform our official (e.g., academic and administrative) web pages from a static to more dynamic system. It will also improve page generation for new sites. Conversion of our sites to CommonSpot is currently about 1/3 complete.
The truth is that current Web editing tools, such as Dreamweaver, have become more and more complex for the average user. Advanced knowledge of HTML, style sheets, javascript, and testing procedures on old and new browsers is required. Using a product such as CommonSpot reduces the need for such knowledge.
What CommonSpot Provides
CommonSpot provides a consistent design and framework that meets UW-Eau Claire’s brand identity standards. It will allow us to make Web design changes more quickly, pulling the necessary data from a database and from a common template automatically.

Sites are converted to CommonSpot on a first-come-first-served basis. Assistance and just-in-time training are available during the process, giving Web publishers the skills they need to maintain the site in the future.
