Don’t accept pain! Often people experience headaches or pain in their neck, back, forearms, wrists or hands while spending long hours at a computer. There are things you can do to make yourself feel better, and LTS has people to help you.
The injuries that cause pain start out as invisible, painless injuries. Once you feel pain, you probably have been injuring yourself for some time. This means it is important to try to pay attention to the pain you are experiencing as soon as you become aware of it. The first thing to do is set up a workstation evaluation. A workstation evaluation will make sure your chair, keyboard, mouse, and monitor are being used to your advantage. How your body uses your workstation and how your workstation affects your body are both very important in figuring out what should be changed to help you work pain free.
A workstation evaluation may result in a recommendation for trying some new equipment. It is extremely difficult to pinpoint exact causes of pain, so trying different solutions is very important. To help you try different solutions, LTS has a limited supply of alternative equipment that can be checked out to you. Once you find the solution that works for you, LTS can advise departments on how to purchase the equipment you need.
Is your department ordering new furniture? Purchasing equipment that adapts to employees of varying shapes and size can save money in the long run. A demonstration on how a particular work area can be equipped to adapt to the needs of different people can be given when a department is considering the purchase of new furniture. Badger State Industries is the purchasing agent for some of the best ergonomically adjustable options available for office furniture and workstation design.
If you would like a workstation evaluation; to check out a different mouse, chair, or keyboard; or would like to purchase new furniture that can meet the needs of current and future employees, contact
