D2L Upgrade

Memorial Day Holiday Weekend Outage

D2L will be unavailable over the Memorial Day weekend due to an upgrade to Desire2Learn version 8.3. The planned outage period is Thursday, May 22, at 8:00 pm through Tuesday, May 27, at 7:00 am.
If you are teaching during this period, please consider the following recommendations to prepare for this outage:

  • Export your Gradebook(s) from your course(s) to a .csv file prior to Thursday, May 22
  • Avoid due dates for online quizzes, assignments, and discussions during the upgrade outage times
  • The NET staff suggest you use some alternative strategies during the outage:
    • Retain electronic versions of your syllabus and course documents to share with your students via
      • Email
      • A Vikki
      • A listserve
      • A website
  • Set up an alternative document sharing location or discussion space
    • Create a Vikki using an online source (e.g.,www.writely.com, www.wetpaint.com)
    • Create a  listserve (http://www.uwec.edu/help/Internet/listserve.htm) See http://www.uwec.edu/help/Internet/disc-list.htm for more information on listserves.
  • Have students complete assignments and discussions off-line and post to D2L once it is back in service.
  • Contact the NET staff at NET@uwec.edu to brainstorm other alternatives.
