LTS Participation in Senior American’s Day

During a double session in the morning, Beth Kranz presented I’m Not an Accountant – What Would I Ever Use Excel for? Julia Lehman and Jeri Weiser assisted an audience of 26 seniors as they learned basic skills in Excel and imagined some possibilities for its use – budgeting, household inventories, and address lists.

In the afternoon Jeri moderated a panel discussion titled Protecting Your Home Front: Computing Security and Internet Safety. The panel included Douglas Hubbard of UW-Eau Claire Police and the following LTS staff: Brian Hogan, Amber Jefson, and Rick Richmond. Fueled by numerous questions from the 30 attendees, the panel discussed security concerns related to identity theft, secure internet connections, viruses, spyware, and more.

This was the 20th year that Continuing Education / UW Extension has sponsored Senior American’s Day and the 2nd time that LTS staff have participated. Attendees 55 or older could choose from over 40 workshops presented by a variety of professionals, including nine from UW-Eau Claire. Numerous community partners collaborated to make this year’s event possible.

Excellence. Our Measure. Our Motto. Our Goal.
