New Video Server

Students and faculty now have access to a new 7 TB dedicated server for academically-related video projects and assignments. Per user, students are allowed 40 gigabytes of space in folders which will have preset deletion dates.

When a folder is created, the creator can indicate when the folder will be deleted. One month before the deletion date, the creator receives an email warning. Then they receive weekly emails up until the deletion date. These warning emails also provide contact information if the deletion date needs to be extended.

To set up your own folder on the video server,

  1. Access http://www.uwec.edu/bits/
  2. From the General Support Topics list, click VIDEO AND AUDIO PROJECTS
  3. Click CREATE A VIDEO FOLDER
  4. Type your username and password
  5. Select how many months you want your folder to exist on the drive and click SETUP PERSONAL VIDEO PROJECT FOLDER FOR: [Username]
    The folder is created.

Faculty can set up group folders for their students, and teaching assistants can set up group folders if they are a member of the distribution list for from which students are put into groups.

Support for the new video server is available through BITS. For more information, contact Judy Hull (hulljs) or Beth Kranz (kranzbl) .
