To reproduce university marks on merchandise, whether for free distribution or resale, clients must first receive permission from the Licensing Manager. University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire student organizations, academic departments and administrative offices, and private concerns must submit a Trademark Waiver request that includes the artwork to be reproduced. Licensed university marks must bear the trademark ™ symbol.
This request should also include the name of the university-licensed vendor that will produce the items, the cost of the production, and whether the item will be given away or sold.
Once receiving signed authorization from the Licensing Manager, the client may deliver the artwork to the licensed vendor for production.
The correct use of university marks is detailed in the university's Graphic Standards Guide.
Only licensed vendors may produce items bearing the university marks.
Vendors that wish to be added to the list of those authorized to reproduce university marks on merchandise may apply.
Items bearing university marks that are given away are usually exempt from a royalty fee. If the item is for resale, the vendor will add a royalty fee to the production cost, and the client will be billed accordingly. Licensed vendors pay a royalty fee of 7% to the university.
