The links below lead you to websites of academic interest in the following disciplines. Some have been gleaned from UW-Eau Claire faculty recommendations, others from reviews in the collection development literature. These are non-commercial sites.
Nursing:
- American Hospital Directory: Searchable database of U.S. hospitals.
- HealthInsite: Up-to-date information for important health topics.
- Hmong Health: A website designed to promote health information about and for Hmong residents; material in English and Hmong; also provides information about cultural practices. (Funded by NLM and Northern Wisconsin Area Health Education Center)
- Medical Research for Non-Medical Librarians: An annotated list of books, websites and articles on a broad range of health-related topics, including Child Health, Evidence Based Medicine, Resources for Consumers, and Multilingual Health Information.
- MedlinePlus: Links to credible web resources with authoritative health information, including dictionaries, directories, organizations, news sources and 400 health topics. Provides access to medical and drug information, as well as links to pre-formulated searches of the MEDLINE database, allowing you to find references to latest health professional articles on your topic.
- The National academies
Up-to-date information about a broad range of science, technology, and health policy issues. - Nursing & Medical Resources on the Web: Created at Sonoma State University with links to health related websites, government resources, electronic full-text journals, professional organizations and the Sonoma State University Library.
- Nursing Resources on the Web: A list of links to Nursing related information, such as PubMed, CINAHL.
- Public Health Image Library: An extensive collection of images and multimedia files related to public health, offered by the Centers for disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
- Reports of the Surgeon General Official, conference, workshop reports and proceedings from the office of the Surgeon General. Topics include smoking, secondhand smoke, nutrition, child abuse, television and children, and many other public health issues.
- Virtual Hospital
Originally based at the University of Iowa, the Virtual Hospital now provides links to useful Internet medical reference and health promotion tools for health care providers and patients, including thousands of textbooks and booklets. - Visible Human Server Three dimensional models of human anatomy.
