About Library Instruction

The McIntyre Library Information Literacy program provides custom-designed in-person class presentations, research assistance for students, and offers opportunities for faculty to consult about incorporating curriculum-based information literacy activities into their courses.

Mission: McIntyre Library is a dynamic research environment that supports the curriculum and mission of the University. We provide instruction to enable the development of research skills, critical thinking and life-long learning.

Curriculum: The information literacy curriculum includes strategies to assist your students to:

  • Refine a research topic
  • Develop effective research strategies
  • Retrieve source citations
  • Locate and access print, microfilm, electronic, or audiovisual materials
  • Critically evaluate the content of information sources
  • Learn to properly cite sources

Assessment: The Library surveys faculty and staff every 2 years to determine satisfaction with our instructional services, and to solicit input on strategic directions. Results of the spring 2005 base program assessment survey are available, as well as the survey itself.

Input about our instruction program, about specific classes, or about print or online instructional materials is always welcome.
