  • Searching the library's catalog and databases
  • Moving beyond web search engines for research
  • Using subject-specific databases and resources
  • Using and evaluating web-based and print resources
  • Getting started in the research process
  • Citing sources properly
  • Avoiding plagiarism
  • Using the library remotely

Library instruction for DE students is available in a variety of formats, including:

  • Librarian-monitored discussion thread in online course
  • Written presentation (or "lecture") for online course
  • On-campus instruction for DE students who visit campus
  • Customized library support web page (see examples)
  • Instruction via ITV, audio, or other technologies
  • Travel to off-campus sites
