Historic Council Oak Tree

Learn the history of this historic tree on the UW-Eau Claire campus. Early on it was a meeting place for Native Americans in the area, and more recently it became a meeting place for students and the symbol of the campus. Although the tree no longer stands, today's students can sit on a bench made by the Art Department from the wood of the Council Oak tree. The bench is in McIntyre Library and overlooks the place where the tree once stood.
