We serve a number of different functions:

  • Special Collections & Archives collects the historic records of the University of Wisconsin--Eau Claire and its predecessor institutions.  The university archives contain:
    • Administrative records
    • Faculty papers
    • Student & alumni papers and scrapbooks
    • Yearbooks, campus newspapers, and other university publications
    • Photographs of the university, some of which have been digitized in the University Photo Album
  • As a Wisconsin Historical Society Area Research Center (ARC), Special Collections & Archives also holds local government records and manuscripts pertaining to the following counties:
    • Buffalo
    • Chippewa
    • Clark
    • Eau Claire
    • Rusk
    • Taylor
  • Our collections also include local history publications, such as:
    • City directories
    • Church and organizational histories
    • County and city histories
    • Genealogical reference books.
    • Plat maps and Sanborn Insurance maps
  • The university’s rare book collection, which is especially strong in first edition British and American fiction, is also housed in Special Collections & Archives.
  • We mount exhibits in the McIntyre Library’s Grand Corridor that feature materials from our collections.
