I try to focus my research on current, pressing issues
facing organizations. To do this, I continually seek to do my research in true
organizational settings. I find this always to be a win-win situation. Should
an organization have a pressing issue of interest, not only can I do research to
help determine where organizations are currently, but can discuss potential
improvements. Participating employees receive a guarantee of confidentiality
and protected identification encouraging cooperation in studies. Participating
organizations receive managerial reports summarizing information obtained, such
as current employee perceptions of organizational practices, behaviors that may
or may not be occurring, and, depending on the research, even how their
organization might benchmark against others. Organizations also receive
guaranteed anonymity in any potential journal reports of research findings.
