Mission
The mission of the Athletic Training Education Program at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire is to prepare entry-level certified athletic trainers. The Athletic Training Education Program seeks to develop competent allied health care providers who are prepared to work in a variety of clinical settings and to make significant contributions within the field of athletic training. In accomplishing this mission, an outcomes-based learning environment will be used to provide the theoretical and clinical experiences that will enable students to develop the competencies and proficiencies required for effective professional practice in athletic training.
Goals and Objectives of Athletic Training Education Program
- Prepare the students to pass the Board of Certification (BOC) certification examination to become nationally certified and state licensed/registered;
- Plan, market, implement, and evaluate effective athletic initiatives for program development and student learning in the didactic and clinical areas;
- Investigate and analyze current research and resources within the professional discipline;
- Use technology to enhance and integrate communication and the educational experience in professional practice;
- Develop students into professionals who understand the importance of adhering to professional and ethical conduct;
- Encourage and promote the importance of personal and professional growth and development of each student;
- Develop students into professionals who will value a liberal education and recognize the importance of lifelong learning;
- Demonstrate professional competency through attendance at conferences, membership in professional organizations and certifications from related agencies and organizations;
- Prepare and assist students for future employment or their continuing education as certified athletic trainers;
- Develop critical thinking skills and abilities to interact and communicate in an effective manner to express ideas and information.
