This
second listening report will be very similar to the first. You will be
listening to and evaluating information given to you and expressing your
impressions and opinions about what was said.
The
second report will focus on a conversation with comedian George Carlin
conducted for a Museum of Television and Radio satellite seminar. Carlin has
been in show business for many decades and is known for his masterful use and
analysis of language.
Although
Carlin discusses many things in the seminar, you should listen for and
concentrate on his thoughts about AND uses of language. Then express
your impressions and opinions of his ideas and analyses. What did you find most
interesting or compelling? WHY?
Just
a note: Carlin is probably best know for his routine
“Seven Words You Can Never Say On Television.” Consequently some of the
language he uses might be considered “offensive.” But since this paper is
supposed to be a discussion of language, you might ask yourself “Why is this language considered ‘offensive’?”
Write
between 2(FULL) -3 pages. It should
also be double-spaced and typed in
Times New Roman font –size 12 with standard page margins.
