Razom Nas Bahato (Together we are many)
The peaceful resistance of Ukrainians (known as the Orange or Chestnut
Revolution) in response to the rigged elections of 21 November 2004 had
its own theme music. You may hear the song at "Razom
Nas Bahato" and read the lyrics below. In response to the
popular groundswell protesting the election fraud, elections were re-held
26 December 2004, and Viktor Yushchenko rightfully won the presidency.
Orange Ukraine, the
website from which the song was downloaded, gratefully acknowledges
http://www.pisni.org.ua/ for
putting the song and lyrics up on the internet. Peaceful change is
possible, and we now wish the very best for a renewed and just Ukraine.
Chorus: Разом
нас багато Together we are many Фальсифікаціям. Ні! Falsifications. No! (Chorus) Ми не бидло. We aren't beasts of burden. (Chorus) [Translation note: "the bit we translated as 'Prison Rules' technically means "understandings". It is used in Ukraine to mean the kind of "understood" rules, i.e. not written down on paper, that govern how inmates interact in prisons. The reference that "we are not goats" come from an offhand comment Yanukovych made, in which he dismissed the protesters in Kyiv as 'goats'.] SOURCE: Orange Ukraine
