ENGL 148-African American Literature

African Americans
English 148 is a course designed to introduce students both to courses in English and to topics in African American literature and life. This course helps students recognize the common influences between major literary texts, social movements in African American history, popular culture, and black/white relations. The instructor uses documentary film, feature film, and music recordings extensively to create stronger connections between material that is read and other media. Writing assignments are equally split between topics in literary studies and topics related to public policy in race relations.
