Stop 1 - Hood Canal Bridge, WA (2:00pm, 9/23/03)

Our first stop in the Pacific Northwest was the Hood Canal Bridge at 2pm. The Hood Canal was formed into a long narrow inlet of salt water located along the eastern edge of the Olympic Peninsula.  The beach we investigated was a pebble beach that contained well-rounded igneous clasts (5-10 cm in diameter).

To see updated pictures and temperature information of the bridge, visit the Washington State Department of Transportation website at http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/traffic/hoodcanal/..
