| HOME | My main project that I worked on throughout this internship was an addressing issue with the town of Washington. The Town of Washington assigned their own addresses to plots of land but have now asked Eau Claire county to help them out. The planning and development section of Eau Claire County is reviewing all the previous addresses given out. Our goal here was to try and figure out the pattern used by the town of Washington while giving out addresses. I did just this. Eau Claire County has a grid system developed for giving out addresses in an order. My job was to measure between addresses to see if the town of Washington even used a grid or how they decided which number to use next. I had to measure to see how many addresses could fit in between the already addressed plots of land. I also had to label issues with any addresses for example a larger address was before a smaller numbered address (1024 was before 1026). Sometimes two plots even had the same address. All these revisions had to be done on the whole town. It took a lot of time and effort for this part of the project to be completed. This step was the first part of the lengthy process. Next all of us that worked on this issue sat down and tried to decide what we should do about these issues we encountered. Should we readdress the whole town of Washington, leave things as is and not accept the project or should we just move the original grid lines so they work with the town of Washington’s system. After lots of deliberation Eau Claire County decided to…more to come soon! I worked on other issues as well as the one listed above. One of the other ideas I worked with was teaching Todd to further understand the complicated ArcGis program to create a map of Gaels Greenery Subdivision. We needed the map to understand which public roads could possibly be vaccated due to in Gaels Greenery subdivision by the Town of Bridge Creek. This subdivision was being blocked off from chains that were hung over public road space. This is not allowed even if the road is only dirt. The road is still considered public if approved into a subdivision platt. For this project I also aided in wrinting letters to the Town of Bridge Creek and to the property owners. |
