The study includes four representative active dunes in coastal North Carolina and Virginia indicated in the figure above as Snow Hill (the active dune in False Cape State Park), Penny Hill (also known as Luark Hill), Run Hill, and Jockeys Ridge. Duck, location of the Army Corps of Engineers Field Research Facility is the source of wind data used in this study.
