The Captain
Dave Numana Hupa-Agai Hatchery is located on the
Paiute Indian Reservation along highway 447 on the west bank of the
Trukee River. The hatchery is the home of thousands of cutthroat trout,
which will be placed into Pyramid
Lake at the appropriate age and size.
The fish population has undergone a dramatic decline in the past century,
due to diversion of the Trukee River for urban growth and irrigation. This
has caused Pyramid Lake's ecosystem to undergo traumatic changes.
