Our next stop on the trip was at the Pacific Coast cranberry research
foundation. Here we looked at how cranberries were harvested
and researched, as well as a geomorphologic overview of the
area. We then traveled to a place called Port of Peninsula
in Willapa Bay. Here, over lunch, our field trip leaders
discussed how vibracores of the ground here were used to
show evidence of previous earthquakes.

Following lunch, we headed off to Joe Johns Road. Here we
looked at a long Ground Penetrating Radar profile of the
area to locate scarps that were formed due to seismic
activity. The dates of the earthquakes were backed up by the
use of optical and radioactive carbon dating.
