Hawai'i Day 2 October 22, 2005 |

| Day 2 of our Hawai'i trip started with a stop at the Kilauea Visitor Center where we got our first glimpse of the currently active volcano. With our stop at the Jaggar Museum we got an even closer look at the volcano and it's history. We then moved on and saw how the lava flows left their mark on the forest at Lava Tree State Park. After that, we made a quick stop at the end of Highway 130 when we encountered a lava flow that had overtaken the Highway and abrubtly ended the road. Our last stop was a short hike over a lava flow to a beautiful black sands beach. We ended the day with a refreshing traditional Hawaiin Ice treat. | |
