Hurricanes

Hurricanes are one of nature’s fiercest storms and are the only natural disasters that aregiven a name. They are found all across the world and are named differently based on where they are found. In the North and Central America and in the Caribbean they are known as hurricanes. In China and the Western North Pacific they are known as typhoons. In the Indian Ocean and parts of Australia they are known as cyclones and in the Philippines they are known as Baguios. Hurricanes act as heat engines that transfer heat from the warm, moist air above the the tropical oceans into the cores of the hurricanes.
