Floodplain mitigation has become a popular practice among many town, cities and states recently. In this website there are steps that have been taken and steps that will be taken by larger metropolitan areas that are loosing area for the storm water to go to. This is being made up by building holding areas for the water. There are also areas that are buying out homes and business’s or building up the existing buildings that are located within the floodplain so they are not at risk for flooding or can handle the flooding without damaging anything. The open spaces from where the buildings that were bought out will be used for parks and other open areas that can be flooded annually without causing damages.
