What is Hwa Rang Do®?

Hwa Rang Do® is a traditional Korean martial art that was created over 1800 years ago for warriors of the Silla kingdom in what is now Korea. The instruction included martial arts, religious training, intellectual enhancement, and artistic pursuits. The sport form, Tae Soo Do® is a modernized form of Hwa Rang Do® that can be taught to everyone as an undergraduate program to the comprehensive and diverse Hwa Rang Do® training.

How does Hwa Rang Do® fit into UWEC?

At the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, the Hwa Rang Do®/Tae Soo Do Club® is 11 years old. The club is a UWEC student organization and began in 1994 as an extension of the Academy of Hwa Rang Do® in Madison. The club currently has approximately 50 members and has been approved as a University Recreation Sports Club, which began in fall of 1999.

If you would like to come and see Hwa Rang Do®/ Tae Soo Do®, please feel free to come to a class. We extend a warm welcome and heart felt greeting/invitation.

Classes are held on the UWEC campus in McPhee (the athletic building on campus) in the Wrestling room, Mcphee 101.
