What is Hwa Rang Do?
Hwa Rang Do is a traditional Korean martial art that was created over 1800 years ago for warriors of the Silla kingdom in what is now Korea. The instruction included martial arts, religious training, intellectual enhancement, and artistic pursuits. The sport form, Tae Soo Do is a modernized form of Hwa Rang Do that can be taught to everyone as an undergraduate program to the comprehensive and diverse Hwa Rang Do training.
How does Hwa Rang Do fit into UWEC?
The Hwa Rang Do/Tae Soo Do Club is a UWEC student organization that began in 1994 as an extension of the Academy of Hwa Rang Do in Madison. The club currently has approximately 50 members and has been approved as a University Recreation Sports Club, which began in fall of 1999.
