Welcome to the Hmong Student Association (HSA) of the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire!

The Hmong Student Association is a student organization. It offers opportunities for the Hmong and Non-Hmong students on campus to learn about the Hmong culture, support for academic concerns and campus issues, provide recreational and other activities for the Hmong students to network with each other.

This organization was started in May of 1988 by Kao Yang, Tou Lee Xiong, Charles Vue, Youa Vang, Va Sara Vang, Nou Xiong and Fong Lor.

In addition, HSA also reaches out to the Hmong community in Eau Claire and the community at large. HSA has helped organize and participated on certain committees for the Eau Claire Hmong New Year and has done various volunteering work at HMAA and within the community.

This organization is open to any UW-Eau Claire students, faculty and / or staff.


Objectives
  • To assist the University in recruiting Hmong students
  • To play an active role in the retention of Hmong students
  • To increase faculty, student, staff, and community awareness of the Hmong culture
  • To promote and enhance leadership skills of Hmong students in higher education
  • To network with similar Associations at other colleges and universities
  • To advocate for the inclusion of a Hmong- related curriculum in this institution
