HEALTH INSURANCE MARKETPLACE

The University of Wisconsin is required to provide all employees with a notice of the availability of the Health Insurance Marketplace and information on health insurance coverage available through your employment at the University of Wisconsin (UW).

Beginning in 2014, the federal Affordable Care Act (ACA) requires most everyone to obtain health insurance for themselves and their dependents or pay a penalty when filing their tax returns.  The Marketplace (or Exchange) is a new option for people to obtain health insurance.

If you have State Group Health Insurance through your employment at the UW, you do not need to enroll through the Marketplace or take any action, unless you choose to do so.  Most UW employees will be ineligible for a premium subsidy for coverage purchased through the Marketplace. You can review the plans available through the Marketplace beginning on October 1, 2013.

For detailed information about the Health Insurance Marketplace and options available to you, please click on the following links:

You may request a paper copy of the notice, free of charge, from Human Resources, 715-836-2513.

Important Note:  If you are covered by the State Group Health (SGH) Insurance program through your UW employment and you wish to make changes to your health insurance for 2014, you must submit a SGH Insurance application or make changes online through eBenefits (where applicable) during the Annual Benefit Enrollment period.  The deadline is 4:30 p.m. on November 1.

If you need this information in another language, please visit https://www.healthcare.gov/language-resource/  or call HealthCare.gov at 1-800-318-2596.

If you have questions about your eligibility for health insurance through your employment, contact Human Resources at 715-836-2513.
