Employee Benefits - Retirement and Savings

Most of us will spend up to one-third of our lives in retirement, and we need to have adequate means to support ourselves during those years. There are different sources of retirement income - it is important to know how they all work together. And we have other savings goals as well.

All University of Wisconsin employees, except for most student employees, are covered under Social Security.

For most University employees, the Wisconsin Retirement System is a major source of retirement income and also provides disability, separation, and survivor benefits. Be sure you understand your benefits under this extremely important program.

Human Resources has Wisconsin Retirement Sessions that covers all the information you will need upon retirement. To view the last Powerpoint presentation select from below.

Department of Employee Trust Funds also has a video library on their web site for more retirement information. Select ETF Video Library.

The Tax-Sheltered Annuity 403(b) Program and the Wisconsin Deferred Compensation Program both provide tax-deferred ways to make supplemental retirement investments.
