Classified/LTE New Hire Information

Benefit Orientation

-For Permanent Classified and LTE's in Wisconsin Retirement only.  Contact the Payroll and Benefits Office immediately to set up an individual benefit orientation.  It will take about forty-five minutes and will be in Schofield Hall 220.   Please telephone Kris Bremness 836-5389 to arrange for an appointment. PIN Number (Personal Identification Number)

-Appear in person with picture identification at the Payroll and Benefits Office, Schofield Hall 220.  You may obtain your PIN number during your benefit orientation.

Complete Payroll forms

-Complete these forms prior to starting your position https://uwservice.wisc.edu/docs/forms/new-employee-packet-c.pdf. You may drop them off in person at Human Resources, Schofield Hall Room 219 to Kris Bremness or send them in postal mail to UW-Eau Claire, Human Resources, PO Box 4004, Eau Claire, WI 54702.

 

Blugold I.D. Card

Classified staff: after your orientation, you will be accompanied to the Blugold Office to receive your I.D. You may use this card when puchasing your parking permit. 

LTE's on Wisconsin Retirement: after you have reached your one-year anniversary AND have worked at least 600 hours in that one-year period, you may receive a Blugold I.D. by contacting the LTE Coordinator at 836-5935 or email sikorajl.  LTEs who are not eligible for a Blugold card may purchase their parking permits with their driver’s license. up

I-9 Form (Employment Eligibility Verification)

-If you are a citizen of the United States, verification must be presented in person within three days of beginning employment at the University.  Bring your identification when you come in for your Benefit Orientation. You may print out the I-9 Formpdf and bring it with you. The most common documents used are a driver's license and Social Security Card.

Social Security Card

-You were asked in your contract to furnish a copy of your Social Security card for payroll purposes.  If you do not have it available, please apply for a duplicate through the local Social Security office located at 4120 Oakwood Hills Parkway. Call first to see what documents you should take with you at (715)836-6645.up

Parking Permits

-You will need your Blugold I.D. card to purchase a parking permit which will be available for walk-in purchase beginning on August 1 in Schneider 106. Prices vary from year to year.  For the most recent cost contact the Parking Office at 836-2002. If you want a GF (guaranteed faculty) permit, you must apply for it through the Business/Student Services office, telephone (715)836-5182.  One of your choices will be to pay for your permit through pretax payroll deduction provided you pick up your permit at the beginning of the academic year. 

Local Address and Phone Number

-Please furnish the Human Resources office with your local address and telephone number as soon as possible.  The Campus Directory goes to print September 1 of every year.  Please complete an online address change form . If you have health insurance you will need to complete a health insurance change form also.up

Paycheck Distribution Information

-You will receive your pay on a biweekly basis, every other Thursday. If a holiday falls on a payroll Thursday, you will be paid on the preceding Wednesday.

Your check will be deposited electronically into the bank or credit union of your choice. Please complete a Paycheck Distribution Form.

The following deductions will be made from all paychecks: federal tax, state tax, social security and Medicare. Voluntary payroll deductions for insurances will occur on a monthly basis. Deductions for savings bonds, credit unions, charities, tax shelters, etc., will occur on a biweekly basis. Deductions for union dues may or may not be voluntary, depending upon your bargaining unit. United States Savings Bonds are available upon application and may be purchased through payroll deduction.

How to Complete Your Timesheet

-Timesheets need to be turned in to the Payroll Office every payday for that pay period.  Complete the form accurately and have your supervisor sign it.  Permanent Classified timesheets are white, LTE's yellow, WPEC Exempt are pink.  Please print out the appropriate timesheet for you, LTE Timesheet, Classified Timesheet and WPEC Timesheet.  We also have form-fill timesheets. Go to our forms section to access. If you do not turn in a signed timesheet you may not get paid immediately.up
