Learning Outcomes
_______________________________

The holistic process of learning that places the student at the center of the learning experience demands collaboration, and collaboration demands cultural change.

Students living in the residence halls will have multiple opportunities to:

1. Be engaged citizens showing individual and social responsibility.

2. Think creatively and critically.

3. Effectively communicate with others.

4. Respect differences and develop a broad cultural awareness.

5. Demonstrate wellness in their personal and academic lives.

How to Incorporate Learning Outcomes Into Planning

Before planning the steps you need to accomplish or achieve a program or task, ask yourself, "What do I hope students will learn as a result of participating?" The link below will help you write learning outcomes for any program, project or task you wish to accomplish. Doing this first will enable you to intentionally make your project a successful learning experience for those who participate.

Why Use Learning Outcomes

  • Provides evidence that your work is intentional - you care about students and their education
  • Gives the organization goals to work towards
  • Provides direction for planning
  • Helps you know if and how programs help students learn
  • Becomes an assessment tool by measuring growth, change and the accomplishment of your outcomes
