Housing and Residence Life

Promoting Your Event

Get Involved!

No matter how much effort you put into planning a program, it will not be complete without publicity to attract people.

A few examples of the most commonly used publicity at UW-Eau Claire include:

News Releases

With a few simple pieces of information provided to the News Bureau, a news release will be written by one of the staff members.

The news release will then be provided to local TV stations, radio stations, newspapers, as well as on-campus media.

What’s even better is that this service is provided for free!

There are two easy ways to submit information for a news release through the News Bureau:

1. Complete and submit the online Events Publicity Data Form

OR

2. Contact Judy Berthiaume, News Bureau director, at 836-4741 or berthija@uwec.edu, or stop in the News Bureau in Schofield Hall Room 201.

Calendar of Events

You also may publicize your organization’s events in the university’s online calendar of events. Have your group’s adviser contact Susan King in the News Bureau to obtain access to the calendar database and to receive instructions on posting your events. King can be reached at kingsa@uwec.edu or 836-4003.

Printed Posters

Designing your posters

A Think Tank graphic designer is available to design your signs and posters. E-mail graphicdesigner@uwec.edu or fill out a Graphic Design Request Form and stop in the Think Tank (Towers 137) to drop the form off.

If you'd like to design your own signs and posters, the Think Tank has all needed programs (Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Publisher, and Word 2007) to meet your needs.

Also, please include the UWEC Excellence Symbol and the
Housing and Residence Life logo before printing!

Printing your posters

Up to 100 posters can be printed off at the Think Tank. If you require more than 100 copies, come to the Think Tank (Towers 137) to fill out a Duplicating Request form and find out more about printing instructions.

On the form, indicate that the posters should be delivered to the Think Tank, Towers 137.

Distributing your posters

For every Resident Asisstant and Hall Director to receive one poster, make 129 posters. Printing Services delivers completed posters to the Think Tank, and the Think Tank Staff distribute those posters to the Hall Directors and RAs.

Additional posters may be hung on bulletin boards in the academic buildings. Posters must be stamped for approval from the Service Center in Davies. Service Center staff will hang your posters up on designated boards for a $3.50 fee. If you'd like to hang up the posters yourself, check out the Promotional Materials Policy for bulletin board locations.

Additional non-university sponsored bulletin boards are located in all academic buildings. Posters may also go up on any of these bulletin boards.
