Honors Program Organization Meeting Minutes

Special Olympics Basketball & Gymnastics Tournament: I mailed in the signup sheet on Tuesday, February 22. All volunteers need to pick up their assignments on Tuesday, March 8 anytime from 11am - 1pm in front of the Council Fire Room.

Bowl for Kids Sake: Bowl for Kids Sake is May 2-6 at Wagner's. The theme this year is Sports Super “Bowl”. The 10:30pm shift on Friday, May 6 was set aside for university student teams. However, Friday night did not work well for many of the people attending the HPO meeting, so we are signing up for Wednesday, May 4 instead. To join the team, email me at precherd@uwec.edu. Each team member will have a fundraising goal of $75.

In addition to participating in the event, HPO members usually decorate for Bowl for Kids Sake. Decorating will take place on Monday, May 2. HPO will have a signup for decorating closer to the event.

Relay for Life: The Relay for Life is April 22-23 from 6pm to 6am in McPhee. If you would like to participate, let me know.

Honors Week: Honors Week this year is April 18-24, with the reception and banquet on April 23. We came up will a few ideas for our Honors Week Event of the Week, and we decided to hold our Midnight Scavenger Hunt during Honors Week as our Event of the Week. Therefore, this semesters Midnight Scavenger Hunt will be Wednesday, April 20 at 10pm.

HPO will help pay for part of the ticket price of paid HPO members who want to attend the Honors Week Banquet. HPO members will be responsible for $10 of the ticket price, and HPO will cover the rest. HPO will also donate $20 to the Honors Week General Reception Fund.

Scholarship: HPO will again award a scholarship to the person (besides me) who has the most participation points. You earn points for every HPO or Honors Program event you attend. The point scale is on our main webpage at http://www.uwec.edu/honors/hpo/index.htm.

Shamrock Shuffle: The Shamrock Shuffle is Sunday, March 13. If you are interested in participating, email me and I will send you more information.
