The William D. McIntyre Library provides high-quality services and collections for the students, faculty and staff of UW-Eau Claire and to the greater Eau Claire community. Recent upgrades include the implementation of SearchSpot, a new Google-like research tool; a redesigned Web site; laptops and cameras for student checkout; renovations of the Instructional Media Center, Information Literacy Lab, and Special Collections and Archives; and the addition of technology-enabled group studies and upholstered furniture to make study and research in the library more convenient and appealing. The building was constructed in 1960, with major additions being completed in 1972 and 1993. The additions expanded the stacks and study spaces, and provided additional office and support space for library staff. The building was named for an Eau Claire businessman who served on the Board of Regents of State Colleges from 1945-66.
